Last week, I shared 4 out of 7 tips with you to successfully showcase your video game at any event. And since that was turning to be a bit of a long-ish post, here is the second (and final) part of the series.
The first four tips were:

Tip # 5
Prepare the gear
Here is where we go back to the user experience again. You may think that getting a 60 inch TV to showcase the game might give the user the best experience. But what if he can't hear the music or sound effects? What if he has to use the keyboard for control and he is too close to the TV?
A few things to keep in mind are:
a. It's going to be a noisy place so get some headphones! Not earphones, for obvious hygienic reasons but headphones. Let your users be truly in your game without the noise and distractions.
b. Hygiene. Get some baby wipes to wipe down the headphones before the users use them. This gives them confidence and they are more likely to say no to trying your game.
c. Get wired controllers. This saves you from embarrassing low battery moments and in a gaming event, you may come across connection issues with so many bluetooth controllers. Plus your controllers are much safer from being misplaced or "taken" if you are using wired ones.
d. Always get extras! Extra HMDI cables. Extra controllers. Even extra copies of your game or executable. In fact keep a copy on your cloud drive, in case the worst happens. Extras are always good.
Involve and Get Involved
A game jam or event is not a lonely activity and it shouldn't be. It is a lot of work. So the best thing is to do is to get as many friends, helpers, partners, community members involved as you can.
And of course give back too. If you watch someone's table while they take a break, they are much likely to help you in return and do the same. So always be nice to your peers.
And get your friends along. Especially if you are the quiet type. You are here to market your game and for people to try it out. And for that you will need the confidence to pull people (not literally) to your stand/ table. If you are not that type of person, that's okay. Get someone you know who is that type of person. Get someone along who is a great marketer and believes in you. It may be a friend, family member, colleague, it doesn't matter. Get the extrovert in your life to shout out your game name and not be shy about it.
Ok, you have done all the hard work, you have prepared really well for the showcase, designed a great experience and gotten feedback. But this could potentially go to waste if not used. Events are a great opportunity for generating some great content. It is the best time to take pictures, and footage for creating videos.

It just gives us so much more content to use and share. We even used the content from this event for our business pitch video. So remember to document everything.
